What I Wish I Knew Before College - Part V - Self-Advocacy

Dear Prospective Student,

I have learned to advocate for myself when I need something. I ask the director of disability services for note takers to help me grasp the class material. I ask my academic coach and friends to help me start my papers and study for exams as well. I asked my professors for extra time to complete assignments. I email my advisors and professors if I can meet with them, and they let me know when they are available on campus. I fill out forms for extended time on exams and tutors for classes I am struggling in. I appreciate the support I have been receiving. I am confident I can express my needs appropriately.

Sincerely, Maki
